NAFSO selected 10 members from the Jaffna participants for the compilation of the final report.
At the same time, the date for the compilation of the final report will be 13th March.
There are number of issues emerged from Jaffna meeting. Very interestingly our long term friend Rajachadran of Karainagar came up with strong arguments of apathy of the northern province fisher people's union and the necessity of the commitment of fisher people for building the broken fishing industry in the northern province.
At the same time, Rajachandran criticized the people to people dialogue between Indian and SL fishers. He was under the negative opinion of the endless dialogues and no successful implementation of the consensus emerged at the dialogues. On the other hand there is no consultation process among fishermen what to discuss at the nevotiation table.
Who are the representatives at the negotiation table? How do they decide the delegation? No body knows it. This is not at all a democratic process added Rajachandran.
There is a proposal from Indian side that the next round of negotiations to be held on 5th March at Tamil Nadu.
Indian side says the same 13 persons who attended the negotiations last terms will continue. But what is the arrangements from SL side? There should be a memory of the proceedings of last occassions for better negotiations as we also agree. Rajachandran was a representative in 2004, 2010 and 2011 negotiations hence good candidate we agree.
Who ever represent 5the SL delegation should have understanding of the issue and skills for negotiations as this created serious tensions and conflict between two countries.
